Description

A gilded bronze chalice crafted by J. Dehin in the Neo-Gothic style, dating from the late 19th to early 20th century.

The bowl rests on a multi-sectioned gilded metal base engraved with busts of saints and cabochons enamelled in blue and red.

Signed “Dehin frère,” legible on the reverse of the chalice, along with the inscription “Don de Pierre et Clothilde Chapelier” followed by the date “30-4 1916.”

“J. Dehin et frères” was the name of the workshop of a famous silverware manufacturer, known for its religious objects and specializing in artistic bronze and enamel work, religious and secular, which expanded throughout Belgium from the late 19th century through the mid-20th.

Late 19th – Early 20th century.
