    Description

    Important pair of gilt bronze sconces with two arms of lights, from the period of the First Empire (1804-1815).

    Decorated with winged caryatids carrying two torches adorned with friezes of palmettes.

    Work from the Empire period attributable to Thomire-Duterme (1804-1820), a renowned bronze artist of the First Empire.

    Model in the same spirit at the Louvre Museum, at the Petit and Grand Trianon as well as at the Château de Fontainebleau.

    Original mercury gilding.

    Very beautiful matt and burnished gilding.
